Kabbage stands against LGBTQ discrimination

Kabbage joins a cohort of leading U.S. companies to support the Equality Act

Kabbage is one of the latest companies to sign on to the Human Rights Campaign’s (HRC) Business Coalition for the Equality Act.  

The Business Coalition for the Equality Act is a group of leading U.S. employers that support the Equality Act, federal legislation that would provide the same basic protections to LGBTQ people as are provided to other protected groups under federal law. The HRC’s Business Coalition for the Equality Act includes 255 companies with headquarters across 32 states, representing a combined $4.9 trillion in revenue and over 11.5 million employees in the United States.

The Equality Act creates clear, consistent protections to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in employment ensuring that LGBTQ employees are hired, fired, and promoted based on their performance. In addition, the bill provides protections from discrimination for LGBTQ people in housing, credit, and jury service. The bill would also prohibit discrimination in public spaces and services, and federal funding on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

Georgia is one of five states in the country with no comprehensive civil rights statutes. Kabbage has U.S. operations across California, Colorado, New York and Georiga—with headquarters in Atlanta. Because CA, CO, and NY have non-discrimination protections in place, LGBTQ Kabbagers, customers and their families who live in Georgia have no recourse when faced with discrimination in housing, public accommodations, and employment. We think it’s time for a level playing field. Where you live should not determine what rights you have to live, work and play without fear of discrimination.
